The Wild Love Rebellion: 3 Life-Changing Benefits of Breathwork That Goes Beyond the Mind

Have you noticed your world is consumed by productivity, perfection, and performance? It squeezes you into a box, filled with self criticism, sadness, and a yearning for something more. Some of us are ‘happy’ there… But for those of us who can’t stand this experience of confinement, there’s a need to be free. Do you feel it?

I am here to share with you that there’s a quiet, potent revolution happening. It’s in your breath. It’s in the whisper of your body.In the parts of you hungering for freedom, in a system that was never built that kind of liberation.

Wild Love Breathwork was born from this rebellion. A space where breath becomes a bridge, not just to calm or clarity, but to deep, embodied reclamation through the power of conscious connected breathing.

Wild Love Breathwork is one of the world’s only seated conscious connected breathing modalities. It is a nose breathing practice that incorporates slow & deep breath, an invitation to move in unison with the breath and energy rising, to reconnect you to your body through sensation, where you experience states of relaxation, joy & love.

Before I continue, my name is Karina Kalilah, and I have been an Embodied Breathwork Practitioner since 2016. Like so many of us, boy do I have a past filled with challenging family dynamics, trauma, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression. My “reclamation journey” began when I woke one morning with sudden moderate hearing loss. I was stressed, in a challenging relationship, and probably at one of the lowest points in my life. I was lost, heartbroken, in a career I hated, & I had a feeling I was NOT where I was meant to be, but too scared to make change. Have you had a similar turning point too?

I would later discover that I lost my hearing so that I would finally listen to myself & my body once again… but that’s a story for another time.

Fast forward to 2019.

I got to a point in my healing where I realised I was STILL carrying disconnection, shame and numbness in my body, but I hadn’t been ready to look at it before this point. Through breathwork, I noticed that my breath would change when I worked specifically with these themes, and my breath would become quite wild.

When I addressed the shame & disconnection I would be able to notice where stories would come up like:
“I am unlovable” “I am disgusting” “I am defective” “I will never have a relationship”

I would work with the energy those stories created within me, and I began to understand that the story’s energy, stored within my cells, was just contracted pockets of the same energy I was breathing: LOVE.

As I would breathe, I learned to move the energy on my own. Once the contracted energy began to open up, I would feel sadness/anger/rage/frustration/grief blossom open into love, joy & peace. Nervous system regulated.

I would no longer feel the shame or disconnection, and the stories no longer had power.

I made better choices in relationships, and began to experience so much more joy and love in my life and in my body, and my clients have reported similar experiences…

So I would like to share with you three of the most transformative benefits people experience through this work:

Nervous System Liberation

One of my clients, Olivia, came to Wild Love Breathwork feeling completely numb. She told me she hadn’t cried in over six years, and her body was stuck in this low-grade tension, and she was always braced for the next disappointment.

In her first session, her breath was shallow, tight, barely moving past her chest. But as we moved through the session, with gentle encouragement and sound, something cracked open. A single tear rolled down her cheek, then a quiet sob. By the end of the session, she was experiencing the fullness of her grief, hand in hand with the relief of finally feeling something again.

Over the next few months, her body softened, her panic attacks stopped, and she began dancing again. She told me, ‘I don’t feel like I’m surviving anymore. I feel like I’m alive.’

Most of our nervous systems are wired for survival, stuck in patterns of people-pleasing, anxiety, shutdown, or over-performance. Wild Love Breathwork invites you to breathe beneath the story, it invites you into a wave of liberation through the breath where you reconnect with your body’s primal intelligence.

Through conscious connected breathing and movement, you begin to discharge old emotions that were too big for you to feel, and unravel & reprogram old survival patterns, restoring the body’s natural rhythm of rest, expression, and joy.

This isn’t about bypassing the discomfort. It’s about moving through it in a held container where you are seen, held and supported through the beauty of whatever wants to come up.

Reclaiming your Power

Do you ever remember hearing someone older than you say “don’t talk about religion or politics”? Maybe I am showing my age here… but I feel that this is what has got us into this current mess. We need to advocate for ourselves, whether it’s in relationship, friendship or with governmental powers. It begins with challenging where you speak up and where you’re silent…

In a society that rewards silence and politeness, especially in marginalized communities, I believe reclaiming your voice is SO important, necessary & an act of spiritual defiance. In Wild Love Breathwork, sound is not just encouraged, it’s sacred. Participants are invited to moan, wail, roar, laugh, whisper and sigh their way into wholeness.

There’s a beautiful man I worked with named Shawn. He grew up in a family where emotion was weakness and sadness was forbidden. His body carried decades of suppression and his body was so tight he could hardly sit, so we modified the practice to support his body’s needs.

In one Wild Love session, as his breath deepened, he felt a wave of rage rise from his belly, and this time, instead of choking it down, I invited him to let it out.

He roared. Loud, primal, untamed. It shook the room. Afterwards, he wept, and said, ‘I didn’t realise how long I’ve been silent.’ That was the moment he reclaimed his power… and not just the power to get loud, but the power to feel what’s true, to take up space, and to no longer apologise for existing.

When breath and sound combine, stagnant energy moves, suppressed emotions rise, and the weight of unspoken truths begins to lift. It’s not just healing, it’s liberation.

A Return to Embodied, Messy, Unapologetic Love

Most of us have been taught that love is something to earn or behave our way into. Have you learned this too? Love is not a reward, it’s your birthright & the most influential person you can receive it from first and foremost is YOURSELF.

Through breath, movement, sound, and vulnerability, we remember that love isn’t always gentle. Sometimes it’s fierce. Sometimes it’s messy. But it is always real.

Another client, Leila, had been in an abusive relationship for years. Her inner voice was cruel, convinced she was unlovable, too much, not enough. In a Wild Love session, we worked specifically with self-compassion and self-acceptance (because self love felt wayyyy too big for her).

As she breathed, she placed a hand on her heart and whispered to herself for the first time, ‘I’m allowed to love me.’ The tears came, and with them, a kind of trembling joy. She laughed through her sobs.

‘I feel… ridiculous,’ she said. ‘But also… free.’ That was her turning point. She later told me she left a toxic partnership, set boundaries with her family, and started creating poetry again. Not for anyone else. For herself.

By turning the love you so freely and easily offer others back towards yourself, you cultivate an inner voice of loving kindness.

It’s YOU in this moment that has CHOICE. It’s YOU in this moment that is learning the tools to regulate your nervous system and reclaim your power. It’s YOU; the one who’s reading this right now, that has the capacity to reprogram your mind. It takes time, practice and a lot of discipline and commitment to change… and one day you will notice just how far you’ve come, the day that shit hits the fan and you are able to offer yourself validation and love even through the challenge.
